A new poll by CareerBuilder indicated that a majority of businesses agree with a majority of the American public that the minimum wage should be increased in their states.
The survey found that 62 percent of employers and 58 percent of company senior leaders think the minimum wage in their state should be increased.
The national poll included 2,188 full-time hiring and human resource managers and 3,372 full-time workers in the private sector across industries and company sizes.
About half or respondents, 48 percent, think the wage should be set between $10 and $14 per hour. Nine percent think there should be no minimum wage and 7 percent think the wage should be $15 or more per hour.
The key reasons for employer support was to raise the standard of living, help the economy and help businesses retain employees. Those against higher minimum wages sited issues such as problems for small businesses and causing employers to hire less people.
