The unemployment rates in the Stockton and Modesto metro areas shrank slightly in the month of February. Stockton’s rate was at 10.1 percent down from 10.5 percent one month earlier. Modesto’s rate fell to 10.7 percent from 11 percent in January.
Stockton’s biggest jump in employment came from 1,000 new farm jobs scattered throughout the area. There were also jumps in education and government positions.
Modesto saw its biggest employment jump with 300 leisure and hospitality positions. There were also increase in government and manufacturing positions.
