STOCKTON – The Stockton Municipal Utilities Department’s (MUD) Focus on Safety Program earned the department the Organizational Excellence Award from the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA).
MUD will be honored with the award at CASA’s 60th Annual Conference, Aug. 19 – 21, in San Diego. CASA, with over 100 member agencies, focuses on the wastewater utility issues in California.
The Focus on Safety Program began in 2013 with a goal of increasing employee knowledge, awareness and participation in workplace health and safety. The program included hazard identification and awareness and provided all MUD employees with training on safety programs and sustainable practices.
Since the program started, injuries have been cut from 29 in 2012, to one injury in the first six months of 2015.
