STOCKTON — The average price of regular gas in the United States slipped to its lowest level in almost four years, dropping to $3.08 per gallon.
Prices are 28.69 cents lower than a year earlier, according to information obtained at about 2,500 filling stations by the Camarillo company. Prices have fallen 24 percent since the peak in June. Prices in certain parts of Stockton could be found for as little $2.89 per gallon. Modesto’s cheapest gas bottoms out at 2.97 per gallon.
The highest price in the lower 48 states was $3.45 per gallon in San Francisco. The lowest price was in Memphis, Tenn. where drivers are paying an average of $2.73 per gallon.
The price dip is attributed to a glut of crude oil, higher production in the U.S. and the end of the summer driving season.
