New vehicle registrations were up by just 1.8 percent in the second quarter, down from a 3.9 percent increase in the first quarter. Both those numbers are well off the 11.1 percent growth that was seen in 2015.
The unanswered question for dealers is will the numbers stabilize or continue to delcine, resulting in declining sales.
Sub-compacts are still the most popular type of car registered in California. The Honda Civic led all cars with 44,757 registration followed by the Toyota Corolla. The Ford F-Series was the most popular truck in the state followed by the Chevrolet Silverado.
